Hernia Mesh

Hernia mesh is made of synthetic material.  Hernia mesh is used to support damaged tissue during hernia surgery and is supposed to help quicken the recovery.

What are the signs of defective hernia mesh

Many patients that undergo hernia repair surgery with mesh suffer severe complications requiring additional surgeries.

Defective Hernia Mesh can cause:

  • Migration,
  • Adhesions of the mesh material to the bowel,
  • Perforation to organs including bowels and intestines,
  • Bowel obstruction, and
  • Abdominal wall tears.

What is a hernia?

A hernia is a medical condition in which an organ or a piece of fatty tissue protrudes through the wall of muscle or connective tissue that normally keeps it contained. Although hernias can develop throughout the body, they most commonly occur in the groin or abdominal area.

Different types of hernias include:

  • Inguinal which occurs in the inner groin;
  • Femoral which occurs in the upper thigh/outer groin;
  • Incisional which occurs in the general abdominal/ventral wall;
  • Umbilical which occurs at the belly button; and
  • Hiatal which occurs inside the abdomen, along the upper stomach/diaphragm.
